Cold Harbour Heating and Air San Jose has been fixing and installing heating and cooling systems across San Jose since 2003, and the crew we’ve put together is the reason homeowners keep calling us back. We’re independently owned and operated as part of the Kingswell network, which means every technician who walks through your door follows the same written standards, yet lives and works right here in the South Bay. They know Almaden Valley’s older gas furnaces, the heat-soaked attics in Willow Glen, and the salt air that drifts over from the bay toward Alviso. Rafael M., Lead Service Technician

Rafael has been turning wrenches on residential HVAC equipment in San Jose for over 18 years, the last 11 of them with Cold Harbour. He holds NATE certification in air conditioning and heat pump service, and he’s factory-trained on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, and American Standard systems, which covers a lot of what’s installed in the Campbell and West San Jose neighborhoods he works most often. Rafael is the guy who gets the call when another company has already taken three swings at a problem, because he reads wiring diagrams the way most people read a newspaper. He keeps a 1990s-era torque wrench in his truck that he refuses to retire because, as he puts it, it hasn’t lied to him yet. On weekends he’s usually coaching his daughter’s softball team at Wallenberg Park.

Denise T., Senior Install Lead

Denise joined Cold Harbour Heating and Air San Jose in 2016 after spending the early part of her career doing commercial HVAC retrofit work in Fremont and Milpitas. She leads our AC installation crews, runs Manual J load calculations on every replacement job, and handles the ductwork layout conversations that make the difference between a system that cools evenly and one that leaves hot spots. Denise is EPA 608 certified and holds an active California contractor’s license, and she’s the one who walks homeowners through the written quote line by line before a single piece of equipment gets ordered. She grew up in the East Bay, moved to San Jose in 2012, and has strong opinions about which of the two makes better burritos. Her installs are known for being clean enough that you could eat off the garage floor afterward.

Cynthia R., Service Coordinator

Cynthia is the voice on the other end of (669) 800-4179, and if you’ve called us at 2 a.m. with a furnace that quit in January, you’ve probably spoken with her. She’s been dispatching HVAC calls in Santa Clara County since 2009 and has an encyclopedic memory for which neighborhoods tend to lose power during winter storms and which zip codes run the oldest equipment. Cynthia hears the urgency in a no-heat call and treats it like what it is: a family in a cold house, not a ticket number. She schedules every visit with a written price structure in mind and makes sure each appointment window is realistic, not aspirational. When she’s not routing technicians around San Jose, she and her husband run a small nursery business out of their backyard in the Blossom Valley area.

Marcus D., Apprentice Technician

Marcus is the newest member of the crew, two years into his apprenticeship and already a familiar face on tune-up visits across San Jose. He shadows Rafael on diagnostic calls and has been earning his EPA 608 certification hours alongside installs with Denise, which means he understands both how systems fail and how they should have been put in. Marcus grew up in the East Side, attended Independence High School, and got interested in HVAC after helping his uncle replace a rooftop package unit in July when the family’s AC gave out. What he lacks in years he makes up for in careful note-taking; the senior techs joke that Marcus writes down torque specs for screws that don’t need them. He’s the one who runs the vacuum gauge test at the end of every install and insists on rechecking refrigerant pressures until they’re dead-on.
